Concepcion, Paraguay (November 24, 2008)
Well how are you all doing family? I'm going to send a package to you all so you should get it in a lil...and i wrapped up all the presents so you guys can open them all on Christmas or whenever you really want. But mmk, yeah, so basically I am going to die from the heat. It is so, so hot here. From the moment that we start walking you instantly sweat. But I am starting to talk in English weird. I say a lot of words in Spanish now and it sounds a lil weird. This morning we got up, I wrote in my journal, then we left to do service on our PDay. It was hard cause we moved a mountain of dirt. We are building or finishing a house today for a member. So far this will be the 2nd house that I've helped build. We also stayed in the hospital room of a member for an hour cause she is really sick and is leaving to Asuncion and asked for us to come cause she feels better with us there.
So me and my comp found this guy and he is golden. We invited him to go to church. We thought that we would never see him again then Sunday he came to church. After church we went to go find his house and when we were looking he walked into us. We went with him back to his house and taught him. It was the best lesson I've had. I felt an instant connection. I honestly felt like I knew him before and that feeling really got me. It made me honestly want to work harder and find the people that are like him...waiting for me to find them. He has been to church and is reading and praying. Now that I look at it running into him was a blessing that we have gotten. Me and my comp aren't the greatest at planning and stuff, but we are really hard workers so we think God puts people directly in our path. The people here are so humble and will receive anyone.
So my toe got really infected again and I had to go to the hospital and get it cut again and it was really bad this time. They put a lot of numbing stuff in it and put me to the knife and it hurt it so, so, so, so bad. My eyes were watering the whole time. It felt like a bad burn. But I get to wear sandals for the next month ha ha. It feels so good.So this week we worked really, really hard.
Zone Conference was this week. Since we are so, so far away we had to take a bus the night before. We left at 11:30 at night and then we had to travel until 6:30 in the morning. But the chapel we have Zone Conference in is 15 min. by bus from the mission home so we had to take one. So were waiting and waiting and all the busses at this time were full and not stopping for us. Then all of a sudden we saw the Assistants to the President of the mission pass and we could get a ride from them. They didn't see us but stopped at a light about 25 yards ahead of us so we all took off running through the traffic on the busiest street in Paraguay. Then the light turned green and so 8 missionaries all jump in the door at once. My comp hurt is leg the day before so he was limping and stuff so once he got in I jumped in and said, "Go, go, go," and they raced off and I pulled myself in the van and closed the door. It was a rush!!! Then we got McDonalds.
