Concepcion, Paraguay (December 1, 2008)

Hello Family, Just to let you know about Thanksgiving... I ate a TURKEY, and really it was one of the best ones that I have eaten. The District President (a District President is like the Stake President) up in Concepcion made it for us. We had turkey with mashed potatoes and stuffing. It was all handmade the Paraguayan way and it was actually really good. We thought we were going to eat other stuff, but we got really surprised and it was so, so good.
This week was a really good one. It's so weird. I'm at the point that I can't have a full conversation in English without slipping in some Spanish. It is really weird, but I guess it's a good thing. I am really getting better at Spanish. It's nice.
Last night I was talking to one of the missionaries who live in the house and we were just talking for the longest time. Like sometimes we complain about how hot it is and how hard it is, but then last night something really hit me hard. I realized that I would never, ever want to be in a different place. I felt a big change inside. I instantly felt a different love for the people here and feel like I have changed to a different level. This morning I woke up and just began to study. I got up early and got hooked and could not stop reading. I learned some amazing stuff. I am now analyzing the scriptures verse by verse. The scriptures become more clear when we study them in silence by ourselves. Today was the best study that I have ever had.

We went to that island in my area called Chaco-i and while we were walking in the jungle we saw this shiny string thing going up to the light pole and we saw it was a massive spider web. It was about 30 feet long and it had caught a bird in it. It was the biggest web I've ever seen in my life.
So I am sending your package out. I got the Christmas one you sent. I had my comp take it from me so I don't open it cause it was a huge temptation.

Well, I love you all so, so much and hope you are all safe.
Love ya, Chan
