I couldn't visit all the people I wanted to which was not cool. But then I went to Asuncion and waited in the office for my bus, which left at 5:00pm. So at 4:30 the office Elders dropped me off at the terminal and I had to travel 6 or 7 hours all by myself. That was a really weird feeling. The bus ride was so long, and the whole time lightning was striking and it was pouring. We were driving through the Chaco, where there are lions and all kinds of crazy animals, but since it was night I didn't see anything. But finally I got to the end and my comp (he's American and has 3 months more than me) and me walked about 5 blocks with all my bags in the rain and in the mud. It was a really long travel. I got in the house at 11:45 at night, which is part of
the church. It's in the property of the church. There are so many mosquitoes out here and it is the hottest part in Paraguay, so we sleep in the cultural hall in the church. We just move our beds in the church everyday with air conditioning and stuff. So that is nice. But this area is a cool area. There is the biggest Virgin Mary here. She is about 50 feet tall. I'm going to take a picture in front of her. But everyone here speaks a lot of Guarani, so I am going to have to learn it. GROSSEST FOOD!!! Well this area is really different. On Saturday we had a lunch appointment with this member and they brought out the plates of food and I thought I was going to throw up. They fed us cow stomach and some other part that had a weird hair thing on it. And the worst part................mmk, this part at the end of the intestines that's like a tube, and we ate that part. But they assured us that they cleaned it really, really good. I thought that I was going to die. But I got almost all of it down. Once they saw that I was suffering they took the plate away and said I didn't have to eat it and said, "Elder, you won." Well there's this place in our area and it is the poorest place that I have ever seen in my life. All it is is this huge Indian tribe and they live in like nothing. We are teaching people there and we have to have someone translate for us because they don't speak Spanish at all. But it is right by a river. Sunday we had to go and get people for church. But for the last couple days it has been raining. Like pouring day and night. So we were walking and the water was up to our knees and we had to walk through that to get to church. Love you all so much. Chan
