Concepcion, Paraguay (November 17, 2008)

I am in an area called Concepcion. That is the big city's name. Well this week my comp and this other guy that I live with completed 1 year in the mission, so that was a cool thing.
But this week was a good week and a very, very hot one which is not that good for me, but good for the Paraguayans here. But overall it was good. I feel like I am working the hardest now cause the weather is hotter and I have to put a lot more into things so that I get stuff done. But I really, really like it out here. It really has a different atmosphere. The people here are really tranquillo and stuff. Like if we clap they always let us in the house, which is a good thing. But it is also hard here because of the Guarani. A lot of people use it and we go to this Indian tribe and that is all they speak. There are a couple of people that speak Spanish so we have to use them to translate for us.
The weather is really, really weird here. During the week there is not a cloud in sight, but on the weekends it rains and there is lightning. The people are really scared of that kind of stuff, so not that many people go to church.
So want to know something cool? I am a home teacher here. I don't know who my other helper is yet cause it's not my companion. But yeah...it is cool.
This week there was this lil kid who was really sick and was having diarrhea for a week. So we went over there and gave him a blessing and then the next day he was playing and dancing. It was cool.
We did service the other day. There were a lot of men and some women doing stuff for this lady that is in Asuncion right now. That night we ate steak and played volleyball with the members. It really was fun.
This afternoon was really fun. There is this part in our area that is an island, and it is called chaco'i. So in the morning we took a lil tiny boat to this island in the middle of the river. When we got there everything was different. The roads were all grass and there were not that many people on the island. It is such a pretty place and there were horses and other animals running around. It is just a really tropical place and it is so pretty. It was one of the prettiest places that I've ever been. It was the best nature walk that I have ever been on for that matter. (A police station on the island)
Anyways this week was a good one. But yeah, this is the greatest week that I have had. Oh, wanna know something cool? I get to go back to the doctor for my toe!!! It is really infected and the skin is starting to fall off and it is really red and it hurts so bad. I am so lucky!!!
I was reading in 3Nephi 27 and in verse 27 it really smacks you in the face. It asks what kind of person should we be, and then Jesus says, "Like me." That is just really powerful.
